How I got to where I am now

August three years ago I received my Leaving Certificate Results (Irish equivalent of A levels). At the time, I was 17 & had absolutely no idea what I really wanted to study, so my results allowed my to study Hospitality Management in Cork which was a three year course. From day one I knew it wasn't for me, I really didn't like the environment. But I still decided to stick with it for one year, during that year I was able to access myself and see what my strengths and weakness' were.
Fashion was always something which really interested me. I then got in touch with Galway Technical Institute (GTI) who were offering a one year course in Fashion Buying, Styling & Visual Merchandising, which i knew would definitely suit me. I applied in late April of 2015 and was called for an interview in August. Within the matter of weeks I was notified that I got accepted, it was like a dream come through, I really couldn't believe it.

Once the course started it was brilliant from day one, so many new opportunities, new modules and a completely new way of learning. During my time there I of course had to research what I was going to do in September 2016. - Was i going to work? Try something new? Or simply continue studying what I absolutely love and that's exactly what I done.
I began researching courses in Ireland but there really wasn't much on offer, so i stretched out more and began looking in the UK. I found Nottingham Trent University and fell in love with the uni and the course instantly
It all seemed so hard to achieve. At the end of February they gave me an offer to come study with them, It was all so overwhelming and hard to believe. I was so happy. In March I attended the offer holders open day with my mum and dad. The three of us absolutely fell in love with the city. Once i eventually got my head around everything it made me so determined to achieve the right grades and to progress along the pathway of my dreams (cheesy i know).
All the hard work payed off, and here I am now a month on and absolutely 'Living The Dream'.
Thank you so much for reading my first post I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed telling my story
Much love,
G x
