Back with a bang

Hello all,

So as I now rewind on what was definitely the best term i've had at Trent so far, as I now continue with the giant projects which have kept me from keeping up with my blog!

Heres a look back on what I've been working on this term. It's been jam packed with work, and as you may know I'm absolutely awful t multi-tasking I was keeping up & now I have mountainfulls (not even a word but it is now) of work. It's all a little crazy!

We started off the year being briefed one two new projects which were going to run at the exact same time, two projects meaning two sketchbooks which took its toll on just about everyone. As it was all a little hectic to start with, we jetted off to London for 2 days to start with some research for our identity project & look for interesting sub-cultures! It was definitely a good start & a mini break before everything got busy.

One of the main reasons we went to London at this time was to visit the Boom For Real exhibition by Basquiat, which was exhibited in the Barbican.

We were then let free to explore the different neighbourhoods of London!

After a great few days in London I then ended that week with a banger of a trip with Trent surf on our annual trip to New Quay! I've met the most amazing people through the society & they're all making my uni experience more enjoyable as the days go on.

I also attended the trip last October too but i'm way more involved in the society this year.

We also got on to do some mono-printing which was very beneficial & was an easy skill to pick up for the future. We all got the chance to be a little creative & messy! Definitely took our minds off the tough work for an afternoon!

We're also very lucky at Nottingham Trent to have the i-D magazine archives reaching back to the very first issue. It was amazing to see how such a successful magazine has grown throughout the years, full of inspiration & definitely set me some goals!

Safe to say i've had a lot of fun sketchbooking this term, it definitely takes some time getting used to & finding out what way suits you best to document your work! It has been tough this term also as we now have two to keep. But it definitely has been a testing trial!

To finish up the term we had a live project brief with COW Vintage. This was so exciting & quite stressful as it was our first time working with an actual brand. We were given the combination of 'Breakfast in Bed' & 'Lightbulbs' so we then had to bring all of our creative minds together to create something breathtaking & of course something that would fit in with the stores aesthetic.

So there you have a little round up of my first term in second year, it has been an absolute whirl wind, but a fantastic one! Of course theres so much more detail & events but i've definitely outlined the best! You can keep up to date with all my work on my creative Instagram account which you can find at (@gillianbourke_fcp)

Thats it for today, it almost feels as if I'm doing a quarter of blogmas, two posts one day after another!

Thank you for reading,

Much love,

G x
