Post Retro is a big trend currently for Autumn/Winter 2016/17. Inspired by the 1960's early 70's, the trend goes all the way from fashion to movie directing even to architecture. It's almost as if the 50's bottled everyone up that the 60's exploded like an old pressure cooker. Theres no limitations to colour in this trend. It's either kept to subtle warm colours, like mustards & browns or else extremely extravagant colour blocking. It manages to contain a youthful fresh silhouette. Mary Quant, a designer who is well known for her geometrical prints is coming back in action, with the most famous trend inside the main trend. Orla Kiely & Guccci (on top) the two designers who absolutely portrayed this trend to the absolute plus. So 50's housewife inspired, chunky eye-wear, colourful patterns & frills absolutely everywhere to be seen. The Orla Kiely show was inspired by the late 50's - 60's, a new kind of drama emerged in Britain which showed the reality of nows modern life, also referred to as 'kitchen sink dramas'. Definitely to wear this trend you should have a certain look about yourself, a certain doll like feature. If your anything like me and absolutely in love with Alexa Chung, then you'll definitely be on board with this trend. Slightly lower pricing for this trend includes Coach & Urban Outfitters.
Everything about this trend is so textured, bulky & chunky. I cannot wait for it to continue on for 2017, i'm really hoping chunky eye-wear becomes more of a 'thing', fingers crossed.
Till next time,
